Late Bottle Vintage was originally a wine intended for bottling like Vintage Port, but, due to the lack of demand, it was kept in a large wooden barrel for longer than planned. Late bottled Vintage ages in barrels for at least four and at most six years after harvest. Due to this long aging in wood, Late Bottled Vintage´s are less astringent and full-bodied than Vintage ports. Considered by many to be the best quality / price ratio, Late Bottled Vintage has the advantage of being ready to get drunk without decanting. Usually ready to drink when launched on the market, Late Bottled Vintage ports are the result of a one-year harvest and tend to be softer and lighter than a Vintage Port.
Lush with fruit, raspberry, blackberry, wild berries. Full-bodied, with hints of spices supporting the fruit, a vegetable touch to add strength and persistence to the finish.
